As a worthy heir, Diablo III takes up the good bases set by the previous opuses, namely: randomly generated levels, incessant monster attacks, events taking place in a perpetually renewed world, unique quests, tons of objects and an epic tale of Heaven, Hell, and the (more or less) hapless humans stuck in the middle. And he incorporates new elements into it.

rune stones

In Diablo III, you can customize any skill with Runestones. Thus, these runestones offer you unprecedented control over your skills and powers, by modifying their type of elemental damage, their precision, their area of effect... They can bring new debilitating effects, such as a slowdown or a stun, and even alter the nature and appearance of your skills.

The Companions

Sometimes a hero might need a helping hand. Companions, champions brave enough to join your fight against the Underworld, are similar to mercenaries in Diablo II, in that they can not only be equipped with weapons and armor, but their skills can also be upgraded. and their skills. You can customize the way they fight, and the passive benefits they grant. Each also has a very marked individual personality.

craftsmanship

As you meet people during your travels in Sanctuary, and come to their aid, craftsmen of great talent will agree to accompany you on your journey. They know how to make good use of the materials you find in nature or that you collect from objects that do not interest you, in order to make you personalized pieces of armor or to combine gems to reveal their true power.

If you invest time and money in training a craftsman and provide them with quality materials, they will be able to craft, upgrade, or combine increasingly powerful items for you.

Interaction without downtime

To increase Diablo's already frenetic pace, we've made changes to Diablo III's character "management" and inventory, so you can spend more time using your powers to slay enemies and harvest loot. Rather than racking up skill points and having to wait for enough to level up your character to your liking, Diablo III allows you to "re-spec" at any time to experience the various possibilities that seem interesting to you. You can also share your items between all your characters, simply by placing them in your common chest. There will also be new methods to limit inventory worries:

  • Cauldron of Jordan that turns objects into gold.
  • The nephalem cube that transforms objects into materials that your craftsmen can use.
  • The recall stone that creates a double portal that will allow you to teleport to town and back.

The fights: faster, more tactical, more intense

Combat in Diablo III follows the established pattern of clicking through your screaming, roaring enemies, then admiring the carnage...but in a more intense, richer, and less repetitive way. The multiple defensive skills of each class provide many tactical possibilities. Potion cooldowns force you to choose your targets wisely, and mastery of the battlefield is as important as the gear you wear. Sometimes the presence of life globes can mean that only mobility will make the difference between life and death...

    Improved controls

Diablo III adds new control options to the classic Diablo II toolbar, such as assigning skills to mouse buttons or switching between multiple skill layouts by holding down certain buttons, allowing skills to be used in combat even faster.

    The Auction House

Items are just as important in Diablo III as in previous games. We have therefore added an auction house, in order to simplify and speed up exchanges, while avoiding possible scams or abuses that may have occurred in the past. It is now possible to buy and sell items without worrying about possible dishonesty from strangers, so that a transaction goes smoothly.

    Classes and Skills

There are five playable classes in Diablo III. Four of them are new: the wizard, the witch doctor, the demon hunter and the monk. For his part, the barbarian, who is the only one to return, now has many destructive abilities to reduce his enemies to shreds. Each class has a unique resource system and very different game mechanics... Mana is no longer a characteristic shared by all heroes.

    monsters and items

Diablo III offers even more different monsters than the first two Diablos and these have their own variants and abilities, sometimes new, sometimes familiar. The variety of random items in Diablo III is similar to previous Diablo games (though we've added legendary items), but we've added thousands of new combinations, some with unique abilities, others with never-before-seen properties .

There are also new weapons and new types of equipment, such as the demon hunter's one-handed crossbows, or the witch doctor's mojos, which bring a particularly interesting class-specific aspect.

    PvP Arenas

In previous Diablo titles, battling other players was frankly not easy, and we wanted to create a more formal playspace for Diablo III where the heroes could compete against each other. Arenas in Diablo III are designed exclusively for PvP combat and feature different settings and life regeneration rates, as well as a player pairing system that ensures balanced battles.

    The Armageddon difficulty level

Diablo III's "Nightmare" and "Hell" difficulty modes feature new in-game progression options not found in "Normal" mode, stronger and more intimidating armor sets, powerful unique items, high-level runestones, as well as exclusive crafter recipes and upgrades.

Monsters become noticeably more dangerous at higher difficulty levels, and in the new "Armageddon" mode (only available after completing the game in Hell mode) they far outrank players in terms of level. Players who wish to take on the challenge of the “Armageddon” mode will find an unrivaled level of difficulty but will be rewarded with epic loot.

    Achievements

You'll be able to showcase your accomplishments visually with a Battle Standard, a banner visible to all Battle.net players that lets you display your accomplishments in Diablo III. And you can count on even more "endgame" additions in the future, which will launch you in pursuit of unique objectives and inspire you to venture even deeper in search of glory in the world of Sanctuary. ..

    An epic new story

Diablo has always approached a classic theme from a macabre angle, that of the struggle between good and evil in a fragile world on the edge, between chaos and tragedy. In Diablo III, we'll take this story to new heights (and plunge it to new depths...), exploring regions of Sanctuary that have only been briefly mentioned so far.
